Portable Dance Barre

Project Goal: Develop a personal barre system with a sprung base that can be collapsed for ease of transport, while maintaining stability

Design Approach: Explored telescoping extrusion designs and locking mechanisms to create the collapsible barre. To keep the base sturdy yet lightweight, an injection molded shroud was designed around a stack of expanded foam, honeycombed polypropylene, and Marley rubber.

Results: Created solution from concept to functional prototype. Prepared manufacturing package for client when funding becomes available. Developed product to patent-pending status.
